Being a kid these days can be tough.
There’s peer pressure, trying to figure out who you are, navigating body changes, the onslaught of social media and just trying to fit in.
These challenges and more can be amplified for young autistic people – making puberty an even more difficult time to navigate.
This is why we created Puberty Plus!
This program is open to all young autistic people, but it is specifically designed to be accessible for those who identify as non-binary, transgender, gender fluid or gender questioning.
It is suitable for children who are nearing, or are in, the early puberty years and want help to navigate the tricky changes that their bodies are exhibiting.
The program focuses on a range of topics relevant to children who are nearing, or are in the early puberty years – such as:
-
-
- the body changes that you experience during puberty
- understanding of the reproductive system
- menstruation and pelvic health
- personal hygiene and self care
- hormonal changes of puberty – and how these can affect us physically and emotionally
- navigating friendships, peer pressure and gender stereotypes
